1) checked Auto-Select + Layer : after checking, click any object then you can move to the layer of including the object in the work space.
2) checked Auto-Select + Group : in same way, you can move to the layer of including the object.
3) uncheck Auto-Select + Alt : as click Alt key, same with check.
4) checked Show Transform Controls : you can show Transform in border of selected layer.
